Lochee Hillwalking Group

The group was started in 2016 with a small group from the Lochee community, who expressed to Community Workers that they would like to start a Hillwalking group.

This was either an activity they had participated in previously or was new to them. The group members were either in recovery from substance use (drugs and alcohol) or mental health issues. Over the following 3 years, the group has continued to increase in number of participants and the number of walks offered, 2019 saw the group being replicated in the East area of the city as well. In 2019 we have been to a variety of places for our walks such as the Backmuir woods, Fife Coastal Path and Glen Clova.

Lochee Parish Church, Ancrum Outdoor Centre, the Community Health Team and Addaction are all partners in facilitating this programme. We meet on Mondays (usually fortnightly) at the Lochee Community Hub for 10.30am. All waterproofs, boots and other equipment are provided, participants just need to bring a drink and a packed lunch.

For further information and/or a copy of the programme please contact The Community Support Worker, Louise on 07511 713 940.
