The Drop Inn Community Café @ Lochee Parish Church

The Drop Inn is open Tuesday 11am-1pm and Sunday 2pm-4pm in the hall of Lochee Parish Church to serve hot, healthy food free to anyone who drops in.

The Café has just celebrated its 10th Birthday. For 10 years people have been enjoying food, comfort and fellowship in a respectful, caring environment, supported by volunteers from both the Church and the community.

There is much more than food on offer – there is always a listening ear. On a Tuesday, the community nurse is available for health checks and advice. We have a brilliant long-term volunteer who offers head massage – oh relaxing! She sometimes makes cakes too. Various agencies giving advice on benefits, housing, and fuel use are often available on Tuesday too.

If you feel adventurous, there are classes run during café time where you can learn to make a Wonder Box which is a slow cooking device which really saves on fuel. There are also healthy cooking classes on offer teaching basic cooking skills and share ideas for use of the Wonder box. These classes run in blocks of six weeks.

So, if you like the idea of sitting around a table for a bowl of soup, a toastie and a chat the Drop Inn could be the place for you. We would love to welcome you.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic the Drop Inn cannot open just now, but on Tuesday from 11am -1pm there is a hot drink and food to take away available at the Church. Social distancing measures are in place – please respect them.
